Brevibacterium linens (B. linens) DSM 20158 with an unsequenced genome can be used as a non-pathogenic model to study features it has in common with other unsequenced pathogens of the same genus on the basis of comparative proteome analysis. The most efficient way to kill a pathogen is to target its energy transduction mechanism. In the present study, we have identified the redox protein complexes involved in the electron transport chain of B. linens DSM 20158 from their clear homology with the…

Exploration of Respiratory Chain of Nocardia asteroides: Purification of Succinate Quinone Oxidoreductase
The electron transport chain of N. asteroides showed the presence of soluble cytochrome-c, cy tochrome-a1c1 and cyto chrome-b, which is important during drug synthesis based on cytochromes inhibitions.
Purification of a ccb-type quinol oxidase specifically induced in a deep-sea barophilic bacterium, Shewanella sp. strain DB-172F
The results suggest the presence of two kinds of respiratory chains regulated in response to pressure in the deep-sea bacterium DB-172F.
Structure and function of a menaquinone involved in electron transport in membranes of Clostridium thermoautotrophicum and Clostridium thermoaceticum
Results obtained indicate that the menaquinone acts between the two b-type cytochromes in an electron transport chain.
[Alternative oxidation pathways in the respiratory chain of Brevibacterium flavum].
A scheme is proposed for the branched respiratory chain in Brevibacterium flavum 22 LD and alternative oxidation pathways are discussed regarding their regulatory role in the bacterial energy metabolism.
Purification and biochemical properties of a cytochrome bc complex from the aerobic hyperthermophilic archaeon Aeropyrum pernix
It is shown that A. pernix, a hyperthemophilic archaeon, has a "full" bc complex that includes a c-type cytochrome, and to the best of the authors' knowledge, A.pernix is the first archaea from which such a bc complex has been identified.
The respiratory chain of Corynebacterium glutamicum.
Membrane-bound electron transfer chain of the thermohalophilic bacterium Rhodothermus marinus: a novel multihemic cytochrome bc, a new complex III.
The newly isolated cytochrome bc complex has quinol:cytochrome c or high-potential iron-sulfur protein (HiPIP) oxidoreductase activity, being a functional analogue of the canonical bc1 complexes; i.e., it is the complex III in R. marinus.
Aspects of enzymology and biochemical properties of Brevibacterium linens relevant to cheese ripening: a review.
The enzymology and biochemical characteristics of B. linens influence the ripening and final characteristics of smear surface-ripened cheeses, and the catabolism of aromatic amino acids, bacteriocin production, plasmids, and miscellaneous biochemical and physiological properties are discussed.
