In these lectures we hope to provide an elementary introduction to selected topics in light-front dynamics. Starting from the study of free field theories of scalar boson, fermion, and massless vector boson, the canonical field commutators and propagators in the instant and front forms are compared and contrasted. Poincare algebra is described next where the explicit expressions for the Poincare generators of free scalar theory in terms of the field operators and Fock space operators are also…

Flow equations for the quantum electrodynamics on the light - front

The method of flow equations is applied to QED on the light front. Requiring that the particle number conserving terms in the Hamiltonian are considered to be diagonal and the other terms

Selected Topics in Light Front Field Theory and Applications to the High Energy Phenomena

In this thesis, we have presented some of the aspects of light-front (LF) field theory through their successful application in the Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS). We have developed a LFQCD

Light Front Nuclear Physics: Toy Models, Static Sources and Tilted Light Front Coordinates

The principles behind the detailed results of a light-front mean field theory of finite nuclei are elucidated by deriving the nucleon mode equation using a simple general argument, based on the idea

Classical aspects of lightlike dimensional reduction

Some aspects of lightlike dimensional reduction in flat spacetime are studied with emphasis to classical applications. Among them the Galilean transformation of shadows induced by inertial frame

Power Corrections in Deep Inelastic Scattering and Non-perturbative Light-front Dynamics

In this thesis, we have investigated the higher twist structure functions in the recently developed method based on light-front Hamiltonian QCD. Because of various special properties of light-front

Light-Front Dynamics and Generalized Parton Distributions

In this work we report on using light-front dynamics to describe generalized parton distributions, which are correlation functions encountered in virtual Compton scattering at large momentum

Trouble in Asymptopia---the Hulthen Model on the Light Front

We use light-front dynamics to calculate the electromagnetic form-factor for the Hulth´en model of the deuteron. For small momentum transfer Q 2 < 5 GeV 2 the relativistic effects are quite small. For

Infinite nuclear matter on the light front: Nucleon-nucleon correlations

A relativistic light-front formulation of nuclear dynamics is developed and applied to treating infinite nuclear matter in a method which includes the correlations of pairs of nucleons: this is

Light-front holographic ρ-meson distributions in the momentum space

We present the leading-twist quark transverse momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) for the spin-1 target, such as the ρ-meson, in the light-front framework. Specifically, we

Similarity Renormalization Group Approach to Boost Invariant Hamiltonian Dynamics

We outline a method of deriving boost invariant hamiltonians for effective particles in quantum field theory. The method is based on the similarity renormalization group transformation for

Light front dynamics of few body systems

Relativistic bound-state problem in the light-front Yukawa model.

For the range of renormalized couplings (and cutoffs) allowed by triviality, one finds that the perturbative counterterm does a good job in eliminating cutoff dependence in the low-energy spectrum (masses].

Light-cone quantization of quantum chromodynamics

We discuss the light-cone quantization of gauge theories from two perspectives: as a calculational tool for representing hadrons as QCD bound-states of relativistic quarks and gluons, and also as a

Quantum field theories in the infinite momentum frame. III. Quantization of coupled spin-one fields

Light-front quantization of spin-one fields coupled to a conserved or nonconserved current constructed from a Dirac field is studied. It is shown that an operator phase transformation must be

Quantum Field Theory in Light-Front coordinates

Canonical formulation of quantum field theory on the Light Front (LF) is reviewed. The problem of constructing the LF Hamiltonian which gives the theory equivalent to original Lorentz and gauge

Hamiltonian Light-Front Field Theory and Quantum Chromodynamics

Light-front coordinates oer a scenario in which a constituent picture of hadron structure can emerge from QCD. From the point of view of eld theory, there are severe diculties with any Hamiltonian

Relativistic composite systems in light-front dynamics

A systematic exposition of a new approach to the theory of relativistic composite systems is presented. The approach satisfies the general principles of relativistic dynamics and is convenient for

THE CHALLENGE OF LIGHT-CONE QUANTIZATION OF GAUGE FIELD THEORY *

; r, In recent yea.rs light-cone quanti&ion of quantum field theory has emerged as a promising method for solving problems in the strong coupling regime. This approach has a number of unique features
