Drumlins are subglacial bedforms which are formed by the interaction of ice ow with an erodible basal topography, and the mechanism of their formation can be understood by analogy with similar processes which cause the formation of dunes and anti-dunes in rivers, and sand dunes in deserts. Here we illustrate a simple model which is able to predict correctly the formation of dunes and anti-dunes in rivers as the Froude number varies, and we then derive an analogous model describing the ow of ice… CONTINUE READING
