Despite an array of evidence-based psychological treatments for patients with a posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a majority of patients do not fully benefit from the potential of these therapies. In veterans with PTSD, up to two-thirds retain their diagnosis after psychotherapy and often their disorder is treatment-resistant, which calls for improvement of therapeutic approaches for this population. One of the factors hypothesized to underlie low response in PTSD treatment is high…

Perceived treatment processes and effects of interactive motion-assisted exposure therapy for veterans with treatment-resistant posttraumatic stress disorder: a mixed methods study
TLDR
Veterans indicated 3MDR treatment processes that complied with its aims of breaking through avoidance and increasing engagement, thereby facilitating traumatic memory retrieval and processing, however, this did not necessarily translate into PTSD symptom improvement for all veterans.
Interactive Motion-Assisted Exposure Therapy for Veterans with Treatment-Resistant Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
3MDR significantly decreased PTSD symptoms in veterans with, on average, a history of 4 unsuccessful treatments, and emerging evidence for 3MDR and its potential to progress PTSD treatment for veterans is shown.
Decreased Emotional Dysregulation Following Multi-Modal Motion-Assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation Therapy (3MDR): Identifying Possible Driving Factors in Remediation of Treatment-Resistant PTSD
Multi-modal motion-assisted memory desensitization and reconsolidation therapy (3MDR), an interactive, virtual reality-assisted, exposure-based intervention for PTSD, has shown promising results for
Virtual Reality–Based Treatment for Military Members and Veterans With Combat-Related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Protocol for a Multimodular Motion-Assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
Whether 3MDR reduces PTSD symptoms among military members with combat-related treatment-resistant PTSD (TR-PTSD) is investigated and the first comprehensive analysis of biomarkers, technology acceptance and usability, moral injury, resilience, and the experience of clinicians and operators delivering3MDR is evaluated.
Moving Toward and Through Trauma: Participant Experiences of Multi-Modal Motion-Assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation (3MDR)
TLDR
Preliminary thematic analysis of participant experiences of 3MDR indicate that3MDR has potential as an effective intervention for combat-related TR-PTSD, with significant functional, well-being and relational improvements reported post-intervention.
Virtual Reality–Based Treatment for Military Members and Veterans With Combat-Related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Protocol for a Multimodular Motion-Assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation Randomized Controlled Trial (Preprint)
TLDR
Whether 3MDR reduces PTSD symptoms among military members with combat-related treatment-resistant PTSD (TR-PTSD) is investigated and the first comprehensive analysis of biomarkers, technology acceptance and usability, moral injury, resilience, and the experience of clinicians and operators delivering3MDR is provided.
Therapist and operator experiences utilizing multi-modal motion-assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation (3MDR) for treatment of combat related posttraumatic stress disorder amongst military and veteran populations
TLDR
The purpose of this study was to qualitatively examine the impact and experiences of STS amongst therapists and operators in delivering 3MDR, and STS was not noted to be a significant challenge for3MDR therapists and operator.
Active duty and ex-serving military personnel with post-traumatic stress disorder treated with psychological therapies: systematic review and meta-analysis
TLDR
Evidence supports individual CBT with a trauma focus (CBT-TF) as the first-line psychological treatment of PTSD in active duty and ex-serving military personnel and there is evidence for Group CBT-TF, but this is not as strong as for individual CBt-TF.
Virtual Trauma Interventions for the Treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorders: A Scoping Review
TLDR
Empirical evidence for the efficacy of virtual trauma interventions on PTSD patients having imagination difficulties was lacking, and such empirical studies are needed to fill these research gaps.

The Effect of Military Motion-Assisted Memory Desensitization and Reprocessing Treatment On The Symptoms Of Combat-Related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: First Preliminary Results
TLDR
The results of the two cases suggest that the 3MDR treatment is a successful, more additional treatment that goes further into the patients affect where other treatment may stagnate.
Response to psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder: the role of pretreatment verbal memory performance.
TLDR
Poor verbal memory performance represents a risk factor for worse treatment response to trauma- focused psychotherapy and memory measures can be helpful in determining which patients are unable to benefit from trauma-focused psychotherapy.
Psychological treatments for chronic post-traumatic stress disorder
TLDR
The first-line psychological treatment for PTSD should be trauma-focused (TFCBTor EMDR), and there was some evidence that TFCBT and EMDR were superior to stress management and other therapies, and that stress management was superior to other therapies.
A five-day inpatient EMDR treatment programme for PTSD: pilot study
TLDR
This is one of the first studies to show that intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame.
Psychotherapy for Military-Related PTSD: A Review of Randomized Clinical Trials.
TLDR
In military and veteran populations, trials of the first-line trauma-focused interventions CPT and prolonged exposure have shown clinically meaningful improvements for many patients with PTSD, however, nonresponse rates have been high, many patients continue to have symptoms, and trauma- focused interventions show marginally superior results compared with active control conditions.
Psychological therapies for chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adults.
TLDR
The evidence showed that individual TFCBT and EMDR did better than waitlist/usual care in reducing clinician-assessed PTSD symptoms, and thatindividual T FCBT, EMDR and non-TFCBT were more effective than other therapies.
