Abstract

A large carapace (dorsal shield) of a somewhat deformed eurypterid prosoma found associated with plant specimens in Upper Pennsylvanian strata of the El Cobre Canyon Formation (Cutler Group) of El Cobre Canyon, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, is assigned to the genus Adelophthalmus, a rare, but widespread, upper Paleozoic genus.
