An EMD based simulation of the drum resistance torque spectrum of a shearer

Abstract

In tradition cutting coal-rock load model, fluctuate of drum resistance torque is described motionless stochastic processes by statistics. However, tradition model always adopts immobile processes, which results in a stiff approximation of the corresponding cutting processes. In this work, an EMD based simulation of the drum resistance torque method is proposed to overcome this limitation by introducing fractal theory and EMD decomposition. The drum cutting process is the release of its energy levels, resulting in a resulting in a keen resistance curve fractal. The EMD and fractal theory is more capable of capturing the mechanical sharp coal-rock than that of traditional statistic's method. The influence of the parameter drums geometric and coal-rock material are studied. Numerical examples show that the proposed method can provide a better solution than that of the statistical approach.
