One problem in subdivision surfaces is that the number of meshes grows quickly after every subdivision step. The number of meshes of the subdivision surface is usually huge and the scheme is difficult to manipulate. Subdivision schemes are cost intensive at higher levels of subdivision. In this paper, we introduce an adaptive subdivision scheme for subdivision surfaces based on triangular meshes.
