Real-time human tracking from a video sequence is a challenging problem due to the coupling of noise, occlusion, and shadow. In this paper, we present an improved frame difference method for accurately human detection and tracking. A novel algorithm that combines different clues to achieve adaptive thresholds is proposed, where a voting-like scheme robust to contours is employed in optimization.
