Abstract An extensive study of the ammonoid fauna occurring in the lagoonal facies of a Middle Triassic isolated carbonate platform (Latemar platform, Dolomites, Italy) has been undertaken, and ammonoids from selected coeval successions (Punta Zonia, Marmolada, Rio Sacuz) have been illustrated. Ammonoids from Latemar have been collected in 20 distinct horizons (storm deposits) within the ca. 500 m thick lagoonal succession of the platform, thus providing a biostratigraphy of a series which is… Expand
Dasycladalean algae distribution in ammonoid-bearing Middle Triassic platforms (Dolomites, Italy)
This paper gives an account of distribution of Dasycladales in ammonoid-bearing Middle Triassic carbonate platforms of the Dolomites. A ca. 600-m-thick section was investigated within the LatemarExpand
Chieseiceras dolomiticum n. sp. (Ammonoidea) and its significance for the calibration of the Triassic platform interior stratigraphy at Latemar (Southern Alps, Italy)
The species Chieseiceras dolomiticum n. sp. along with other ammonoid species (Latemarites latemarensis, Halilucites rusticus) helps constraining the age of the cyclic platform interior portion atExpand
Taphonomy and palaeoecology of Late Triassic (Carnian) ammonoid concentrations from the Taurus Mountains, Turkey
TLDR
Local mass mortality within the Kasimlarceltites fauna due to oxygen fluctuations or methane degassing may have initially led to a primary accumulation, which was then reworked and redeposited basinward by gravity flows to create the present‐day secondary allochthonous concentrations. Expand
Palaeoecology of Late Ladinian (Middle Triassic) benthic faunas from the Schlern/Sciliar and Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi area (South Tyrol, Italy)
The Schlern and Seiser Alm area (South Tyrol, Italy) is a classical locality for studies of Middle Triassic platform to basin transitions, yet details of the palaeoecology of the rich benthic faunasExpand
Ammonoid-calibrated sporomorph assemblages reflect a shift from hygrophytic to xerophytic elements in the late Anisian (Middle Triassic) of the Southern Alps (Italy)
Abstract An integrated sporomorph and ammonoid biostratigraphy has been carried out in three upper Anisian (Middle Triassic) stratigraphic sections in the Southern Alps (Italy). Two main sporomorphExpand
Ammonoid diversification in the Middle Triassic: Examples from the Tethys (Eastern Lombardy, Balaton Highland) and the Pacific (Nevada)
The diversity dynamics of the Anisian ammonoids is analyzed in terms of generic richness and turnover rates in one North American (Nevada) and two western Tethyan (Eastern Lombardy, Balaton Highland)Expand
A new ammonoid fauna from the Carnian (Upper Triassic) Kasimlar Formation of the Taurus Mountains (Anatolia, Turkey)
We describe a new ammonoid fauna from the Taurus Mountains of southern Turkey. The Carnian ammo- noid fauna from Asagiyaylabel is presented for the first time. Ammonoids were obtained from limestoneExpand
Aragonite dissolution, sedimentation rates and carbon isotopes in deep-water hemipelagites (Livinallongo Formation, Middle Triassic, northern Italy)
Hemipelagic nodular limestones are a widespread facies in the Triassic of the Tethys, often considered as being deposited at rather constant sedimentation rates. The aim of this paper is toExpand
Taphonomic implications from Upper Triassic mass flow deposits: 2-dimensional reconstructions of an ammonoid mass occurrence (Carnian, Taurus Mountains, Turkey)
Abstract Ammonoid mass occurrences of Late Triassic age were investigated in sections from A şağlyaylabel and Yukarlyaylabel, which are located in the Taurus Platform-Units of eastern Turkey. TheExpand
Field trip 1 Pulses of Neotethys-Rifting in the Permomesozoic of the Dolomites
The Dolomite Mountains are known for their spectacular seismic scale outcrops showing Triassic carbonate platforms and build-ups preserved with their clinoforms and slope facies in primary transitionExpand

Nature and evolution of Middle Triassic carbonate buildups in the Dolomites (Italy)
During the Middle Triassic, an evolution from carbonate bank to buildup, highly elevated in respect of the adjacent basins, is observed in the Alps. The Dolomites in the Southern Alps, Italy, areExpand
Facies architecture of an isolated carbonate platform: tracing the cycles of the Latemar (Middle Triassic, northern Italy)
