Aim: This study evaluated the ameliorative potentials of ethanolic extract of Solanum melongena Linn fruit on monosodium glutamate (MSG)-intoxicated rats' lipid profile, haematological parameters and heart histology using standard protocols. Methodology: Twenty four Wistar rats that weighed 105.00 ± 7.00 g. The rats were assigned into six groups and fed thus: Group 1 (control, feed and 1 ml/kg body weight (bw) distilled water only), Group 2 (8000 mg/kg bw MSG), Group 3 (300 mg/kg bw sample…

Renal-Biofunction Potentials of Ethanolic Extract of Solanum Melongena Linn Fruit on Monosodium Glutamate- Intoxicated Rats and Kidney Histology

This study evaluated the renal biofunction potentials of ethanolic extract of Solanum melongena Linn fruit on monosodium glutamate-intoxicated rats' and kidney histology using standard protocol.

Hepatoprotective Potentials of Ethanolic Extract of Solanum melongena Linn Fruit on Monosodium Glutamate- Intoxicated Rats' and Liver Section Histology

This study evaluated the hepatoprotective potentials of ethanolic extract of Solanum melongena Linn fruit on monosodium glutamate-intoxicated rats and liver section histology using standard

Mango (Mangifera indica L) Seed Kernel: Proximate Properties and Effect on Normal and Monosodium Glutamate-Hepato-Compromised Wistar Rats

The study highlighted the dietary potential of MSK and confirmed a definite MSG-induced adverse effect on the liver histology and serum functional indices of rats, probably ameliorated on concomitant exposure with MSKE.

Ethanolic Extract of Ground Vernonia Amygdalina Stem Exhibited Potent Antibacterial Activity and Improved Hematological Bio-Functional Parameters in Normal and Monosodium Glutamate-Intoxicated Rats

VASEE exhibited potent activity against the tested bacterial pathogens, improved, and potentially modulated MSG-intoxication-related effect on, the rats’ hematological functions, underscored a promising antibacterial application of the extract of hitherto wasted bitter leaf stem that could offer novel therapeutic benefits on the hematology of especially MSG- Intoxicated rats, warranting further studies.

Effect of Ethanolic Extract of Avocado Pear (Persea americana) Seed on Normal and Monosodium Glutamate-Compromised Rats’ Kidney Histology and Serum Bio-Functional Parameters

MSG-induced adverse effect, and inconsistent modulation by ASE, on the rats’ kidney histology and some serum bio-functional indicators are demonstrated and the observations on the blood vessels congestion of rats’ kidneys histology in the various groups seem to support the serum chemistry results.

Properties of Solanum melongena green calyx against toxic effects of diabetes‐induced testopathy: a stereological and biochemical study

Investigating the protective functions of hydro-alcoholic extract of SMGC on DM‐induced testicular damages revealed that the SMGC is considered as an effective antioxidant agent to decrease the adverse effects of DM on male reproductive system.

Avocado Pear (Persea americana) Seed flour1: Some Mineral Contents and Effect of theEthanolic Extract on the Hematology of Normaland Monosodium Glutamate-Intoxicated Rats

Avocado pear seed usually discarded as a waste has appreciable concentration of the determined minerals, notably potassium, phosphorous, sodium and calcium, however, the ethanolic extract of avocado pear seed significantly reduced hematology counts of the rats and exacerbated the monosodium glutamate-induced effect in the rats’ hematological function.

Evaluation of biomarkers in liver following Solanum melongena green calyx administration in diabetic rats

It is revealed that the SMGC attenuates blood glucose levels in diabetic animals and also eliminates destructive effects of DM on liver through antioxidant features.

Effect of Ethanolic Extract of Pulverized Mangifera indica (Mango) Seed Kernel on Some Hematological Parameters in Normal and Monosodium Glutamate-Intoxicated Rats

The non-fully understood biochemical basis of MSG-intoxication heightened research activities on particularly the possibilities of using hitherto agro waste to modulate any adverse effect of MSG in animals.

Pulverized Mangifera indica (Mango) Seed-kernel Modulated Serum Lipid Profile in Monosodium Glutamate-challenged Rats

The preponderance of tannin was demonstrated in, and significant serum lipid lowering potential in normal and MSG-challenged rats of, the sample, and the suggested implication of lipid-profile-component-ratios are warranted and recommended.

Haemato-Protective and Hypolipidemic Effects of Aqueous Extract of Libyan Propolis Against Sodium Nitrite Induced Haematotoxicity and Hyperlipidemia in Guinea Pigs

Sodium nitrite had adverse effects on haematological, lipid profile parameters, and the atherogenic ratios parameters and propolis supplementation showed a remarkable amelioration of these abnormalities in sodium nitrite treated male Guinea pigs.

The Effect of Monosodium Glutamate ( MSG ) on the Gross Weight of the Heart of Albino Rats

The findings suggest that the gross weight of the heart can significantly be increase with continuous and/or increased use of MSG.

Hypolipidemic Properties of Four Varieties of Eggplants ( Solanum melongena L . )

The effects of four eggplant varieties on lipid indices in albino rats were evaluated. A total of 108 adult albino rats were used for this study which lasted for 4 weeks (30days). They were randomly

Antioxidant and Nutritional Components of Egg plant (Solanum melongena L) Fruit Grown in Saurastra Region

A B S T R A C T Eggplant or brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) fruit is known for vegetables of diet food because of high moisture content and low caloritic value. However, it is a good source of

Protective effect of Piper longum Linn. on monosodium glutamate induced oxidative stress in rats.

It was revealed that administration of P. longum provided significant protection to liver and kidney from the oxidative stress of MSG, though the dose rate was not sufficient to provide a complete protection.

Sub-Chronic Esculetin (6,7-Dihydroxy-Coumarin)-Induced Alteration in Some Haematological and Serum Parameters in Normal Male Wistar Rats

The sub chronic esculetin (6,7-dihydroxy-coumarin)-induced response on malondialdehyde concentration and some haematological and lipid metabolism parameters was studied in normal male Wistar rats and may not have resulted in significant pathologies or dysfunctional states in the rats.

Protective Role of Ginkgo biloba on Monosodium Glutamate: Induced Liver and Kidney Toxicity in Rats.

The results showed that MSG at dose 1.5 mg/kg of body weight may cause an adverse effect on the heptic and renal functions which might be due to oxidative stress induced by MSG on the liver and renal tissue.
