Gentamicin is one of the widely used antibiotics. However, it suffers from drawback of nephrotoxicity, which is predisposed due to oxidative stress. Rutin is one of the major classes of flavonoids and phyto-antioxidant. It has demonstrated cardioprotective, hepatoprotective and neuroprotective effects. However, no studies pertaining to its nephroprotective activity have still performed. Present work was aimed to determine nephroprotective activity of Rutin. Dose of 100 mg/ kg and 200 mg/ kg was…

Nephroprotective role of diosgenin in gentamicin-induced renal toxicity: biochemical, antioxidant, immunological and histopathological approach

DG showed a significant nephroprotective effect in a dose-dependent manner by ameliorating the GM induced nephrotoxicity in Wistar rats.

Improvement of renal profile in Gentamicin-induced Nephrotoxicity in albino wistar rats by edible macrofungi Dacryopinax spathularia and Schizophyllum commune

The results revealed that S. commune extract showed comparatively more efficacy in the renal profile improvement of nephrotoxic rats in comparison to the D. spathularia extract.

Protective effect of hesperetin against acrylamide induced acute toxicity in rats

Administration of hesperetin at different doses brought the studied parameters towards control in a dose dependent manner concluding its therapeutic effects against acrylamide toxicity in rats.

ANTITUMOR ACTIVITY OF RUTIN-CISPLATIN IN COMBINATION AND ITS PROTECTIVE EFFECT AGAINST HEMATOTOXICITY

It was observed that cisplatin in combination with rutin has better therapeutic potential against murine ascites Dalton’s lymphoma showing about 57 percent more ILS than cis platin alone.

POLYPHENOLIC COMPOUNDS, ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY AND NEPHROPROTECTIVE PROPERTIES OF ROMANIAN TARAXACUM OFFICINALE

Taraxacum officinale (L.) Weber ex.F.H.Wigg. (dandelion) is a medicinal herb from the Asteraceae family, with a complex chemical composition. The purpose of this research was to determine the

All the previous parameters were corrected to some extent after the nephrotoxic rats treated with rutin, urate oxidase and their combination.

Protective effects of capsaicin against cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in rats.

It is suggested that capsaicin has protective effects against cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and lipid peroxidation in rats.

Effects of rutin on acrylamide-induced neurotoxicity

It seems that rutin could be effective in reducing neurotoxicity and the neuroprotective effect of it might be mediated via antioxidant activity.

An experimetal evaluation of nephroprotective potential of Butea monosperma extract in albino rats

It is revealed that ethanolic extract of Butea monosperma is a good source of phytochemicals and the phytoconstituents flavonoids, phenolics, and alkaloids present in the extracts may be responsible for antioxidant activity.

Effects of Fennel Essential Oil on Cisplatin-induced Nephrotoxicity in Ovariectomized Rats

FEO, as a source of phytoestrogen, did not induce kidney damage and FEO similar to estrogen was not a nephroprotectant agent against CDDP-induced nephrotoxicity.

Rutin, a bioflavonoid antioxidant protects rat pheochromocytoma (PC-12) cells against 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced neurotoxicity.

It was concluded that the bioflavonoid rutin inhibited 6-OHDA-induced neurotoxicity in PC-12 cells by improving antioxidant enzyme levels and inhibiting lipid peroxidation.

Normalized kidney weight and pathology damage score is a good predictor of renal function in cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity in experimental rats.

Rutin reduced significantly and in a dose-dependant manner the polymorphonuclear neutrophils chemotaxis to fMet-Leu-Phe and elastase exocytosis, induced by both stimuli, was partially inhibited by rutin up to 25 microM.
