BACKGROUND Asymmetric NG,NG-dimethylarginine (ADMA) is an endogenous inhibitor of endothelial nitric oxide (NO) synthase and its plasma concentration is elevated in patients with cardiovascular risk factors, including hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, and hyperhomocysteinemia.
