To examine if a potentized homeopathic drug, Natrum Sulphuricum 200 (Nat Sulph-200) has protective potentials against hepatocarcinogenesis, liver tumors were induced in mice through chronic feeding of P-dimethylaminoazobenzene (p-DAB; initiator of hepatocarcinogenesis) and phenobarbital (PB; promoter). Mice were divided into five sub-groups: fed normal low protein diet (Gr. I, normal control); fed normal low protein plus alcohol-200 (vehicle of the homeopathic remedy) (Gr. II); fed diet mixed…

Homeopathic Remedies, Carcinosin200C and Natrum Sulphuricum200C, Used Intermittently Demonstrate Greater Ameliorative Response in Mice Intoxicated with Liver Carcinogens

Conjoint use of Car200 and Nat Sulph200 in carcinogen-intoxicated mice is ameliorated hepatotoxicity and oxidative stress significantly more than when a single drug was administered and their clinical use in human liver ailments is validated.

Molecular aspects and chemoprevention of dimethylaminoazobenzene‐induced hepatocarcinogenesis: A review

Research evidence suggests that dietary phytochemicals and plant polyphenols are promising agents to control the incidence of DAB‐induced hepatocarcinogenesis by preventing the generation of toxic electrophiles and ROS thereby inhibiting the formation of DNA adducts.

Amelioration of the therapeutic efficacy of 5-Flurouracil loaded chitosan nanoparticles in experimentally induced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The use of 5-FU loaded chitosan nanoparticles in combination with low-intensity ultrasound ameliorates the efficacy of 4-FU as anticancer therapy for HCC and results show tumor growth delay and more enhanced correction in hepatic architecture was obtained by a combination of US and 5-fu loaded Cs NPs therapy.

Effect of morin, a flavonoid against DOCA-salt hypertensive rats: a dose dependent study.

The Role of Retinyl Acetate in Chemoprevention

Retinyl acetate may affect the stages of promotion that appeared preneoplastic changes via inducing apoptosis, reducing lipid peroxidation in the liver and decreasing levels of pro-angiogenic molecule VEGF and pro-invasive molecule MMP-2.

An overview of research at University of Kalyani in exploring some basic issues of Homoeopathy

The ability of ultra-highly diluted homoeopathic drugs in rendering protection/repair of cytogenetic damages inflicted by whole-body X-irradiation in mammalian model mice in vivo is demonstrated through controlled studies.

Bioactivity of the Murex Homeopathic Remedy and of Extracts from an Australian Muricid Mollusc against Human Cancer Cells

Marine molluscs from the family Muricidae are the source of a homeopathic remedy Murex, which is used to treat a range of conditions, including cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in

Efficacy of the potentized homeopathic drug, Carcinosin 200, fed alone and in combination with another drug, Chelidonium 200, in amelioration of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice.

These homeopathic remedies have the potential to be used as complementary and alternative medicine in liver cancer therapy, particularly as supporting palliative measures.

Effect of a homeopathic drug, Chelidonium, in amelioration of p-DAB induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice

The homeopathic drug Chelidonium exhibited anti-tumor and anti-genotoxic activities and also favorably modulated activities of some marker enzymes in mice compared to suitable controls.

Evaluation of protective potentials of a potentized homeopathic drug, Chelidonium majus, during azo dye induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice.

The microdoses of Chelidonium having no visible ill effects of their own, may be strong candidates for use in delaying/protecting liver cancer.

Phenobarbital at low dose exerts hormesis in rat hepatocarcinogenesis by reducing oxidative DNA damage, altering cell proliferation, apoptosis and gene expression.

Results indicate that phenobarbital exhibits hormetic effect on rat hepatocarcinogenesis initiated with DEN by differentially altering cell proliferation, apoptosis and oxidative DNA damage at high and low doses.

Protective potentials of a potentized homeopathic drug, Lycopodium-30, in ameliorating azo dye induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice

Both the assay systems indicated considerable protective potentials of the homeopathic remedy against p-DAB induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice.

Enhancement of azo-dye hepatocarcinogenesis with dietary phenobarbital in rats.

Phenobarbital given together with the hepatocarcinogen, 4-(dimethylamino) azobenzene or with N-2-fluorenylacetamide (AAF), decreased the carcinogenic effect of the chemicals and also enhanced spontaneous hepatic tumorigenesis in mice.

Review Article: Paradoxical Effects of Phenobarbital on Mouse Hepatocarcinogenesis

It is suggested that the paradoxical actions of phenobarbital on hepatocarcinogenesis can be understood by consideration of qualitative diversity in initiated lesions and differential responses to promotion stimulus.

Roots of Withania somnifera Inhibit Forestomach and Skin Carcinogenesis in Mice

The findings suggest that W.somnifera root has chemopreventive efficacy against forestomach and skin carcinogenesis and warrants the identification and isolation of active compounds responsible for its anticancer effects, which may provide the lead for the development of antitumor agents.
