Displacing fossil fuel with biomass grown sustainably and converted into useful energy with modern conversion technologies would greatly reduce the build‐up of CO2 in the atmosphere. This use of biomass for fossil fuel substitution would be far more effective in decreasing atmospheric CO2 than sequestering carbon in trees.
