Abstract The alpha-particle and photon spectra of 9.5 d 149Gd and the photon spectrum of its daughter 106 d 149Eu were studied with a Si(Au) surface barrier detector, and with Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) gamma-ray spectrometers. The 149Gd alpha particles were found to have an energy of 3.01±0.01 MeV while the α E.C. branching ratio was found to be (4.0±1.2) × 10−6.
