The selectivity of moxisylyte and its two metabolites deacetylmoxisylyte and demethyldeacetylmoxisylyte, for alpha 1- and alpha 2-adrenoceptors has been investigated in the pithed rat. Alpha 2-adrenoceptor blockade was measured by antagonism of the inhibitory effect of clonidine on the tachycardia produced by electrical stimulation of the cardiac accelerator nerves and of the pressor response to B-HT 933. alpha 1-Adrenoceptor blockade was measured by inhibition of the pressor response to…

Moxisylyte: A review of its pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties, and its therapeutic use in impotence
TLDR
Compared to inducing agents such as papaverine and prostaglandin El, moxisylyte must be considered as a facilitator of male erection, its interest lying in the low rate of adverse effects, either general or local.
Effects of α1-adrenergic blockade on pulsatile luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and prolactin secretion in polycystic ovary syndrome
TLDR
The data suggest that in PCO patients, 1) brain noradrenergic mechanisms do not play a stimulatory role in regulative role and 2) pulsatile FSH and PRL secretion or gonadal sex steroids during these experimental conditions are not changed.
