We present an analysis of the interactions of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and antagonists (methysergide, ketanserin, ritanserin) with the 5-HT2 receptor system of strips of rat tail artery. The mode of action of ritanserin was also studied on strips of calf coronary arteries. 1. Ketanserin competitively antagonized 5-HT-induced effects in rat tail artery with an affinity (pKB = 9.4 nmol/l) consistent with the assumption of an interaction of 5-HT and ketanserin at 5-HT2-receptors. 2.
