The aim of the study was to assess the role of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in osmotic stress tolerance of wheat seedlings. This was accomplished by determining the impact of the acids applied exogenously on seedlings grown under osmotic stress in hydroponics. The investigation was unique in its comprehensiveness, examining changes under osmotic stress and other conditions, and testing a number of parameters simultaneously. In both drought susceptible (SQ1) and drought resistant…

Exogenous Polyamines Only Indirectly Induce Stress Tolerance in Wheat Growing in Hydroponic Culture under Polyethylene Glycol-Induced Osmotic Stress
TLDR
Increased accumulation of antioxidants in the resistant CS in response to stress after the application of PAs confirms the hypothesis that PAs are involved in the signaling pathway determining the antioxidative response and the tolerance of wheat plants to drought stress.
Effect of Auxin Treatment on Growth and Physiological Traits in Two Sunflower Cultivars Under Saline Conditions.
TLDR
The use of plant hormones in two sunflowers under NaCl stress, improved plants salt tolerance through an improvement of relative water content, membrane stability, enhancement of chlorophyll and carotenoids biosynthesis, some antioxidant enzymes, which reflect an increase the most growth parameters of sunflower.
Exogenous abscisic acid and jasmonic acid restrain PEG-induced drought by improving the growth and antioxidative enzyme activities in pearl millet.
TLDR
Results showed that PEG decreased plant growth while the oxidative damage increased due to over production of H2 O2 and MDA content as a result of decreased activities of the antioxidative enzymes including APX, CAT and SOD in the leaves, whereas the performance of JA was found better than ABA under PEG-induced drought stress.
Root yield, antioxidant capacities, and hormone contents in different drought-tolerant sweet potato cultivars treated with ABA under early drought stress
The current work is aimed at assessing the impact of abscisic acid (ABA) on the resistance of two drought contrasting sweet potato cultivars, namely, Jishu 21 (J21, tolerant) and Jizishu 1 (JZ1,

Exogenous salicylic acid positively affects morpho-physiological and molecular responses of Impatiens walleriana plants grown under drought stress
The aim of this experiment was to investigate the exogenous application of salicylic acid (SA) on morpho-physiological and molecular characteristics of Impatiens walleriana plants grown under water
Foliar Pre-Treatment with Abscisic Acid Enhances Olive Tree Drought Adaptability
TLDR
The improved physiological and biochemical functions of the ABA-treated plants attenuated the drought-induced decline in biomass accumulation and potentiated root growth and whole-plant water use efficiency after successive drought-rewatering cycles.
FOLIAR APPLICATION OF SALICYLIC ACID REDUCED THE HARSH INFLUENCES OF WATER DEFICIT AND BIOCHEMICAL CONTENTS IN VARYING DEGREE IN SUNFLOWER
TLDR
It seemed that salicylic acid had the ability to increase the tolerant ability of the plant to drought stress.

Impact of osmotic stress on physiological and biochemical characteristics in drought-susceptible and drought-resistant wheat genotypes
TLDR
The level of osmotic stress defined in this study as most suitable for differentiating drought resistance of wheat genotypes will be used in further research for genetic characterization of this trait in wheat through QTL analysis of mapping population of doubled haploid lines derived from CS and SQ1.
Effects of salicylic acid on the photosystem 2 of barley seedlings under osmotic stress
TLDR
SA pretreatment enhanced osmotic stress tolerance in barley seedlings mainly through ROS signals, rather than SA itself, and the only SA-dependent and ROS-independent effect of exogenous SA on PS 2 was reduction of non-photochemical quenching.
Drought-induced Accumulation of Soluble Sugars and Proline in Two Maize Varieties

ALLEVIATION OF ADVERSE EFFECTS OF SALT STRESS ON SUNFLOWER (HELIANTHUS ANNUUS L.) BY EXOGENOUS APPLICATION OF SALICYLIC ACID: GROWTH AND PHOTOSYNTHESIS
TLDR
SA applied as a foliar spray did not change the sub-stomatal CO2 suggesting that stomtal factors were not the major controlling factors for photosynthesis, and the adverse effects of salt stress could be alleviated by exogenous application of SA.
