Kinesiology taping is currently regarded as an independent or supporting method in rehabilitation, orthopaedics and sport medicine. The idea of the method lies in the effect of elastic tape applied according to the kinesiolgy taping rules. Kinesio tape, made from cotton and acrylic, has parameters (thickness, weight, extensibility, etc.) very similar to those of human skin. Glue used in kinesio tex tape is hypoallergenic. Evidence of allergy during kinesiology taping treatment (heat, rash etc…

Skin irritation incidence following kinesiology tape use in patients with neurological disorders: multicenter observation

Despite the fact that kinesiology taping is regarded as an effective, safe and patient-friendly treatment, there is still need for careful application, especially the case in neurological patients with possible sensory deficits and/or patients in a (sub)conscious state.

Effect of Kinesio Taping on bioelectrical activity of vastus medialis muscle. Preliminary report.

Clinically significant effects of Kinesio Taping in this study included an increase in the bioelectrical activity of the muscle after 24 hours of kinesio taping and the maintenance of this effect for another 48 hours following removal of the tape.

Short-term effects of cervical kinesio taping on pain and cervical range of motion in patients with acute whiplash injury: a randomized clinical trial.

Patients with acute WAD receiving an application of Kinesio Taping, applied with proper tension, exhibited statistically significant improvements immediately following application of the KinesIO Tape and at a 24-hour follow-up, however, the improvements in pain and cervical range of motion were small and may not be clinically meaningful.

Kinesio Tape may be associated with improvement in upper-extremity control and function in the acute pediatric rehabilitation setting and may assist with the goal-focused occupational therapy treatment during the child's inpatient stay.

The Effect of Kinesio Taping on Lower Trunk Range of Motions

It is determined that KT applied over the lower trunk may increase active lower trunk flexion range of motion and further investigation on the effects of KT is warranted.
