Recent studies suggest that aliphatic β-nitro alcohols may represent a useful class of compounds for use as in vivo therapeutic corneoscleral cross-linking agents with higher order nitroalcohols (HONAs) showing enhanced efficacy over the mono-nitroalcohols.
