We use high-resolution Himages of 130 planetary nebulae (PNe) to investigate whether there is a preferred orientation for PNe within the Galactic Bulge. The orien- tations of the full sample have an uniform distribution. However, at a significance level of 0.01, there is evidence for a non-uniform distribution for those planetary nebulae with evident bipolar morphology. If we assume that the bipolar PNe have an unimodal distribution of the polar axis in Galactic coordinates, the mean Galactic…
Statistical Simulations of Galactic Planetary Nebulae
In the present paper, two catalogues J/A+A/327/736 and J/A+A/541/A98 of VizieR database were used for the statistical simulations of galactic planetary nebulae. Each catalogue was utilized for
Observational Confirmation of a Link between Common Envelope Binary Interaction and Planetary Nebula Shaping
A current issue in the study of planetary nebulae with close binary central stars (CSs) is the extent to which the binaries affect the shaping of the nebulae. Recent studies have begun to show a high
Stellar Spins in the Open Cluster NGC 2516
Measuring the distribution of stellar spin axis orientations in a coeval group of stars probes the physical processes underlying the stars’ formation. In this paper, we use spectrophotometric
Orientation of galactic bulge planetary nebulae toward the Galactic center
Abstract We have used the Wide Field Spectrograph on the Australian National University 2.3-m telescope to perform the integral field spectroscopy for a sample of the Galactic planetary nebulae. The
3D hydrodynamical models of point-symmetric planetary nebulae: the special case of H 1-67
We present 3D hydrodynamical simulations of a precessing jet with a time-dependent ejection velocity or a time-dependent ejection density, interacting with a circumstellar medium given by a dense,
Are the orbital poles of binary stars in the solar neighbourhood anisotropically distributed
We test whether or not the orbital poles of the systems in the solar neighbourhood are isotropically distributed on the celestial sphere. The problem is plagued by the ambiguity on the position
A method to deconvolve stellar rotational velocities
Aims. The study of accurate methods to estimate the distribution of stellar rotational velocities is important for understanding many aspects of stellar evolution. From such observations we obtain
PAH formation in O-rich planetary nebulae
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been observed in O-rich planetary nebulae towards the Galactic Bulge. This combination of oxygen-rich and carbon-rich material, known as dual-dust or
On the alignment of PNe and local magnetic field at the Galactic centre : magnetohydrodynamical numerical simulations

A Preferred Orientation Angle for Bipolar Planetary Nebulae
We present preliminary results from measuring Galactic orientation angles of 766 elliptical and bipolar Planetary Nebulae (PNe) in the Hong Kong/Australian Astronomical Observatory/Strasbourg

The Spatial Orientation of Planetary Nebulae within the Milky Way
We analyze the spatial orientation of a homogenous sample of 440 elongated Planetary Nebulae (PNe) in order to determine the orientation of their apparent major axis with respect to the Milky Way
The kinematics of 867 galactic planetary nebulae
We present a compilation of radial velocities of 867 galactic planetary nebulae. Almost 900 new measurements are included. Previously published kinematical data are compared with the new
Survey of Planetary Nebulae in the Southern Galactic Bulge
We present the results of a deep and uniform narrowband Hα imaging survey for planetary nebulae (PNs) in the southern Galactic bulge. In our survey, we have found 56 new PNs and have rediscovered 45
Orientation of planetary nebulae within the Galaxy
Narrow-band CCD images of 209 axially symmetrical planetary nebulae (PNe) have been examined in order to determine the orientation of their axes within the disc of the Galaxy. The nebulae have been
Binary central stars of planetary nebulae
This paper reviews our knowledge on binary central stars of planetary nebulae and presents some personal opinions regarding their evolution. Three types of interactions are distinguished: type I,
Magnetic fields in planetary nebulae and post-AGB nebulae
Magnetic fields are an important but largely unknown ingredient of planetary nebulae. They have been detected in oxygen-rich asymptotic giant branch (AGB) and post-AGB stars, and may play a role in
The Macquarie/AAO/Strasbourg Hα Planetary Nebula Catalogue: MASH
We present the Macquarie/AAO/Strasbourg Hα Planetary Nebula Catalogue (MASH) of over 900 true, likely and possible new Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe) discovered from the AAO/UKST Hα survey of the
The Nature of Bilateral Supernova Remnants
We present high-resolution radio images at 1.4 GHz of two Galactic supernova remnants (SNRs), G003.8-00.3 (formerly G003.7-00.2) and G350.0-02.0 (formerly G350.0-01.8). Although the two objects are
The magnetic field of the proto-planetary nebula candidate IRAS 19296+2227
Context. Magnetic fields are thought to be one of the possible mechanis ms responsible for shaping the generally spherical outflow of evolved stars into often aspherical planetary nebulae. However,
An analysis of the observed radio emission from planetary nebulae
We have analysed the radio fluxes for 264 planetary nebulae for which reliable measurements of fluxes at 1.4 and 5 GHz, and of nebular diameters are available. For many of the investigated nebulae,
