Alcohol abuse is a well-established risk factor for injuries of all types. Despite the impact of recent public health initiatives alcohol-related traumatic and burn injury remains a considerable health and economic burden to society, with the incidence of alcohol abuse estimated to be nearly 50% of burn and trauma admissions and as high as 70% in some populations.
