Rhesus monkeys that were maintained on an adequate diet but with low levels of essential fatty acids (1.4 en% linoleic, 18:2n-6, and 0.08 en%, linolenic acid, 18:3n-3) became depleted of 20:4n-6, and 22: 6n-3 in their livers, plasma lipoproteins, and erythrocytes during an 18-month period of alcohol exposure (2.6 g kg(-1) day(-1)).
