INTRODUCTION Alcohol consumption, which is highly prevalent in HIV-infected individuals, poses serious concerns in terms of rate of acquisition of HIV-1 infection, HIV-1 replication, response to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and AIDS/neuroAIDS progression.
