Detailed clinical case descriptions highlight the potential symptomatic overlap between the syndromes of akinesia and postpsychotic depression in neuroleptic-treated patients. The cases demonstrate that both syndromes may resemble major depression phenomenologically. However, the syndromes are not identical in medication response.
