Poliovirus and reovirus were found to aggregate into clumps of up to several hundred particles when diluted 10-fold into distilled water from a stock preparation of minimal aggregation in 0.05 M phosphate buffer, pH 7.2, plus 22 to 30% sucrose. Reovirus was also found to aggregate when diluted into phosphate-buffered saline.
