We have dated by the fission track (FT) method several apatite samples from the Yasgil Dome (central Karakorum) taken along a profile between the altitudes of 4,200 and 7,200 m. Apparent and total retention FT ages are observed to increase with altitude, respectively from 2.8 to 6.6 Ma and 0.8 to 3.8 Ma. From these data, it is suggested that during the last 7 Ma the Yasgil Dome denudation rate stood around 0.9 mm/year
