The projections from the basal telencephalon and hypothalamus to each nucleus of the amygdaloid complex of the rat, and to the central amygdala of the cat, were investigated by the use of retrograde transport of horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The enzyme was injected stereotaxically by microiontophoresis, using three different approaches. The ventral pallidum (Heimer, '78) and ventral part of the globus pallidus were found to project to the lateral and basolateral nuclei of the amygdala. The… CONTINUE READING
