Because of the limited application of frame-based stereotaxy to general neurosurgical procedures, we have carried out a preliminary evaluation of the ISG Viewing Wand, a frameless image-directed surgical system that is based on the rapid reformat and accurate three-dimensional reconstruction capability of parallel processor-based computer technology.
