Aminated polyacrylonitrile fibers (APANFs) were prepared by surface modification and were used as an adsorbent to remove humic acid from aqueous solutions. The APANFs were found to be very effective in removing humic acid at the pH range from 2 to 10. The adsorption isotherm obeyed both the Langmuir and Freundlich models, and the adsorption kinetics followed an initial diffusion-controlled and then an attachment-controlled adsorption pattern.
