There are multiple systems for cellular cholesterol delivery for steroidogenesis, including uptake of lipoprotein-derived cholesterol via LDL receptor mediated endocytic pathways and SR-BI mediated "selective" pathways, as well as from endogenous cholesterol synthesis and the mobilization of stored cholesteryl esters.
