BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) is the most feared complication after tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) stroke treatment. Endogenous fibrinolysis inhibitors play an essential role in the coagulation/fibrinolysis balance and may be involved in the bleeding process.
