In an effort to develop a genetic therapy for the treatment of breast cancer, we constructed adenoviral vectors containing either the beta-galactosidase (β-gal) reporter gene or the herpes simplex thymidine kinase (HSVtk) suicide gene driven by breast tissue-specific promoters.
