We introduce Adaptive Smooth Multicast Protocol (ASMP), for multimedia transmission over best-effort networks. The smoothness lays in the calculation and adaptation of the transmission rate, which is based on dynamic estimation of protocol parameters and dynamic adjustment of the ldquosmoothness factorrdquo.
