A large portion of traffic on multimedia networks is expected to be video tr@c with a variable-bit-rate traffic characteristic. Video tr@c prediction can play an important role in dynamic bandwidth allocation and traffic management in future high-speed packet-switched networks and ATM networks. A composite MPEG video traffic prediction scheme based on the normalised least mean square error ( N M S ) algorithm is proposed in this paper.
