Dynamic power management can be effective for designinglow-power systems.In many systems,requests areclusteredinto sessions. Thispaperproposesanadaptive algorithmthat canpredictsessionlengthsandshut downcomponentsbetweensessionstosavepower. Comparedto other approaches, simulationsshow that this algorithmcanreducepower consumptionin harddisks with lessimpacton performanceor reliability.
