Abstract Spring activation of the gill Na + K + -ATPase, osmotic variations after direct exposure to sea-water of high salinity (35.5‰), survival, and growth were studied in three salmonid species reared in France ( Salmo trutta, Salmo gairdneri, Salvelinus fontinalis ) and in the hybrid tiger trout ( ♀ S. trutta × ♂ S. fontinalis ).
