We show that if one chooses the Einstein Static Universe as the metric on the conformal boundary of Kerr-AdS spacetime, then the Casimir energy of the boundary conformal field theory can easily be determined. The result is independent of the rotation parameters, and the total boundary energy then straightforwardly obeys the first law of thermodynamics. Other choices for the metric on the conformal boundary will give different, more complicated, results. As an application, we calculate the…

A New Boundary Counterterm for Asymptotically AdS Spacetimes
We present a modified version of the boundary counterterm method for removing divergences from the action of an asymptotically $AdS$ spacetime. The standard approach renders the action finite but

Using trace anomalies, we determine the vacuum stress tensors of arbitrary even dimensional conformal field theories in Weyl flat backgrounds. We demonstrate a simple relation between the Casimir

Time-dependent solutions of gravity
Several new solutions of Einstein gravity, Einstein-Maxwell, and supergravity are presented. The solutions are derived, often from known solutions via analytic continuation, or generating or
Partition functions, the Bekenstein bound and temperature inversion in anti-de Sitter space and its conformal boundary

We reformulate the Bekenstein bound as the requirement of positivity of the Helmholtz free energy at the minimum value of the function $L=E\ensuremath{-}S/(2\ensuremath{\pi}R)$, where $R$ is some
