UNLABELLED Bites due to Russell's Viper (Daboia russelii) are common in Sri Lanka. Commonest haematological manifestation is consumptive coagulopathy and bleeding. Commonest neurological manifestations are ptosis, ophthalmoplegia and rarely respiratory failure which are due to presynaptic inhibition of neuromuscular transmission.
