Recent studies have indicated possible changes in the incidence of acute mastoiditis. A retrospective review of children discharged with a diagnosis of acute mastoiditis was undertaken to describe the epidemiology, clinical presentation, microbiology, and treatment of acute mastoiditis over past years.
