Some cognition enhancers were previously shown to potently prevent antagonism of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-evoked release of norepinephrine (NE) brought about in slices of rat hippocampus by kynurenic acid, an endogenous NMDA receptor blocker.
