Among 10 hospital- and community-acquired Staphylococcus aureus strains with differing methicillin and vancomycin resistotypes, all strains were susceptible to ceftobiprole at MICs <or=2.0 microg/mL, and also to linezolid, tigecycline, and quinupristin/dalfopristin. Ceftobiprole, at 4x MIC, was bactericidal (99.9% killing) against 9 of 10 strains tested at 4x MIC after 24 h.
