Andrographolide sulfonic acid sodium salt (ASS) was synthesized to increase the the solubility of Andrographolide in aqueous solution. We have studied its pharmacological effect of antibiosis, anti-inflammatory and immunoregulation. Cylinder-plate method was used to study ASS׳s in vitro antibacterial activity, and its protection for mice infected by Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella dysenteriae. Various inflammation models, including the auricular edema induced by xylene in mice, CMC-Na… Expand
Inhibitory effects of andrographolide on activated macrophages and adjuvant-induced arthritis
TLDR
It is plausible that eventually, after further toxicologic characterization, andrographolide might be useful as a drug for the clinical treatment of various inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or diseases associated with joint pain. Expand
Effect of Andrographolide and Its Analogs on Bacterial Infection: A Review
TLDR
The therapeutic potential of Andrographolide and its analogs in combating various bacterial infections is outlined, focusing on the mechanisms of action. Expand
Inhalable Andrographolide-β-cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes for Treatment of Staphylococcus aureus Pneumonia by Regulating Immune Responses.
TLDR
Inhalable AG-β-CD is a promising antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medicine for the treatment of S. aureus pneumonia by regulating immune responses, and the effect is enhanced by β-CD inclusion. Expand
Biological properties of andrographolide, an active ingredient of Andrographis Paniculata: a narrative review.
TLDR
Current knowledge of the biological effects of andragrapholide is summarized to conclude that despite documented effects and some partly characterized mechanisms of action, more research is clearly needed. Expand
Liposomal andrographolide dry powder inhalers for treatment of bacterial pneumonia via anti-inflammatory pathway.
TLDR
Pulmonary delivery of liposomal AG dry powder inhalers (LADPIs) for treatment of Staphylococcus aureus-induced pneumonia shows that AG regulated the immune reaction to maintain the antibacterial effect while downregulating inflammatory response so that AG showed a strong effect on bacterial pneumonia. Expand
In Vitro Antiplasmodium and Chloroquine Resistance Reversal Effects of Andrographolide
TLDR
In spite of its prominent and safe in vitro and in vivo growth inhibitory effect and its in vitro chloroquine resistance reversing effect, it is inapplicable to implement andrographolide in malaria chemotherapy to substitutechloroquine or to reverse its resistance. Expand
Andrographolide Enhances Proliferation and Prevents Dedifferentiation of Rabbit Articular Chondrocytes: An In Vitro Study
TLDR
The results indicate that ANDRO can accelerate proliferation of rabbit articular chondrocytes in vitro and meanwhile maintain the phenotype, which may provide valuable references for further exploration on arthritis. Expand
Dehydroandrographolide enhances innate immunity of intestinal tract through up-regulation the expression of hBD-2
TLDR
The results suggested that DA enhanced innate immunity of intestinal tract by up-regulating the expression of hBD-2 through the p38 MAPK pathways. Expand
Pro-neurogenic effects of andrographolide on RSC96 Schwann cells in vitro
TLDR
The results indicated that Andro may accelerate proliferation of RSC96 cells in vitro, whilst maintaining the Schwann cell phenotype; therefore, the present study may provide valuable evidence for the further exploration of the effects of Andro on peripheral nerves. Expand
Overview of pharmacological activities of Andrographis paniculata and its major compound andrographolide
TLDR
Despite the various pharmacological activities and formula of A. paniculata, further development of more structural derivatives of andrographolide with reduced toxicity and increased therapeutic efficacy is still needed for the clinical application of this ancient mighty herb and its major component.
