Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is an annual herb, used as a spice and traditionally as medicine. Fenugreek finds its uses in treating hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and disorders of gastro-intestinal and cardiovascular systems. Fenugreek cultivation in India is affected by fungal diseases like root-rot and damping-off and fungicides like carbendazim are used to overcome these infections. Fungicides play both positive and negative role in plants; fungicides protect plants from diseases and…

Characterization of protein fractions and antioxidant activity of chia seeds (Salvia hispanica L.).

Various chia seeds showed differences in their SOD activity and exhibited the high antiradical activity against 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS).

Allelopathic Effect of the Foliar Spray by the Aqueous Seeds Extract of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) and Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) on Cineraria (Pericallis x hybrida) Plant.

The chemical fertilizers caused many problems in our planet like soil and underground water pollution, beside the residuals of these fertilizers in the edible fruits or the ornamental plants. Thus,

Modulatory Effect of an Isolated Triglyceride from Fenugreek Seed Oil on of α-Amylase, Lipase and ACE Activities, Liver-Kidney Functions and Metabolic Disorders of Diabetic Rats.

It is demonstrated that administration of pure fenugreek TG to diabetic rats ameliorated the glycogen rate in liver and muscle and inhibited lipase activity in small intestine which leads to the regulation of lipid profile.

Tetrapleura Tetraptera Fruit Protects Against Cyanide Induced Toxicity in Rats

This study indicates that T. tetraptera fruit extract possesses hepato-and-nephroprotective properties and can be used as an antidote for cyanide poisoning.

Multigenerational effects of carbendazim in Daphnia magna: From a subcellular to a population level

Overall, carbendazim induced some effects at the subcellular level that translated into changes in longevity but these later vanished in terms of population effects.

Carbendazim impends hepatic necrosis when combined with imazalil or cypermethrin.

In fruits and vegetables for human consumption, residues of these three pesticides and prolonged combined intake of low doses, which by themselves acutely would not cause any effect, may have similar hepatotoxic effects.

Effect of Foliar Spray with Natural Extracts on Vegetative Growth and Chemical Composition of Murraya exotica (L.) Jack Plant

  • 2021
A pot experiment was carried out on Murraya exotica (L.) Jack plants grown in a semi shaded place at the nursery of Al-Zohriya Garden, Horticultural Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center,

Gastroprotective Effect of Fenugreek Seeds (Trigonella foenum graecum) on Experimental Gastric Ulcer in Rats

Histological studies revealed that the soluble gel fraction prevents lesion formation and is effective as ranitidine, showing that fenugreek seeds possess antiulcer potential.

Restoration on tissue antioxidants by fenugreek seeds (Trigonella Foenum Graecum) in alloxan-diabetic rats.

It is suggested that the soluble portion of the seeds could be responsible for the antioxidant property, and supplementation resulted in increased antioxidant status with reduction in peroxidation.

Effects of Artea, a systemic fungicide, on the antioxidant system and the respiratory activity of durum wheat (Triticum durum L.).

The results after treatment with Artea show an enhancement of respiratory activity and increased levels of antioxidative enzymes in durum wheat roots, which could probably be the result of ArteA induced toxicity which could cause an oxidative stress state.

Carbendazim alleviates effects of water stress on chickpea seedlings

Carbendazim (methyl-2-benzimidazole carbamate) promoted root growth of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) seedlings subjected to polyethylene glycol (PEG, osmotic potential −0.5 MPa) induced water stress.

Investigations on the effects of different histological subfractions of the seeds have shown that antidiabetic properties are contained in the fibre rich high density part, which is at least partly due to gastro-intestinal effects of these fibres.

Hypolipidemic effect of fenugreek: A clinical study

FG powder given orally before food at 25 and 50 gm twice a day may have hypolipidemic effect in hypercholesterolaemic patients.

Superoxide dismutase: improved assays and an assay applicable to acrylamide gels.

Proximate Composition, Available Carbohydrates, Dietary Fibre and Anti Nutritional Factors of Selected Traditional Medicinal Plants

It was found that these hypoglycemic traditional medicinal plants provide various nutrients which are not provided by allopathic medicine and these plants have no side effects, so diabetic patients should be encouraged to include these medicinal plants in their daily diet to control blood sugar level.

A modified spectrophotometric assay of superoxide dismutase.

A simple and rapid method for the assay of superoxide dismutase in biological samples is described. Present method takes advantage of the inhibition of NADH-dependent-nitroblue tetrazolium reduction
