Consumers are exposed daily to several pesticide residues in food, which can be of potential concern for human health. Based on a previous study dealing with exposure of the French population to pesticide residues via the food, we selected 14 pesticides frequently found in foodstuffs, on the basis of their persistence in the environment or their bioaccumulation in the food chain. In a first step, the objective of this study was to investigate if the 14 selected pesticides were potentially… Expand

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) potentiates the cytotoxicity of rotenone in neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells
TLDR
The present findings indicate that more detailed mechanistic studies are necessary to fully understand the chemistry of EGCG and to justify its use as potentially health-promoting dietary supplement, e.g. in the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases associated with oxidative stress. Expand
H2AX phosphorylation as a genotoxicity endpoint.
TLDR
The current data indicate that H2AX phosphorylation could be used as a biomarker of genot toxicity, which could predict the outcome of in vitro mammalian cell genotoxicity assays. Expand
Mechanism of Toxicity in Rotenone Models of Parkinson's Disease
TLDR
The involvement of oxidative damage in rotenone toxicity is demonstrated and antioxidant therapies for Parkinson's disease are supported, using three model systems of increasing complexity. Expand
A review: oxidative stress in fish induced by pesticides.
TLDR
The knowledge in oxidative stress in fish has a great importance for environmental and aquatic toxicology because pro-oxidant factors' action in fish organism can be used to assess specific area pollution or world sea pollution. Expand
Compound Cytotoxicity Profiling Using Quantitative High-Throughput Screening
TLDR
The generation of high-quality cytotoxicity data on this large library of known compounds using qHTS demonstrates the potential of this methodology to profile a much broader array of assays and compounds, which, in aggregate, may be valuable for prioritizing compounds for further toxicologic evaluation, identifying compounds with particular mechanisms of action, and potentially predicting in vivo biological response. Expand
Characterization of diversity in toxicity mechanism using in vitro cytotoxicity assays in quantitative high throughput screening.
TLDR
This work begins to address the question of how to design a battery of in vitro cell-based assays by combining data from two different types of assays, cell viability and caspase activation, with the aim of elucidating the mechanism of action. Expand
Occupational exposure to pesticides and risk of hematopoietic cancers: meta-analysis of case–control studies
TLDR
The overall meta-odds ratio suggests that there is a significantly positive association between occupational exposure to pesticides and all hematopoietic cancers as well as NHL. Expand
A review of pesticide exposure and cancer incidence in the agricultural health study cohort.
TLDR
Empirical evidence outside the AHS remains limited with respect to most of the observed associations, but animal toxicity data support the biological plausibility of relationships observed six pesticides. Expand
Role of oxidatively induced DNA lesions in human pathogenesis.
TLDR
This work focuses on the induction and repair of oxidative clustered DNA lesions and other oxidatively induced DNA lesions, which can lead to the formation of mutations, DNA DSBs, and chromosome abnormalities. Expand
Bayesian nonparametric model for clustering individual co-exposure to pesticides found in the French diet.
This work introduces a specific application of Bayesian nonparametric statistics to the food risk analysis framework. The goal was to determine the cocktails of pesticide residues to which the FrenchExpand
