Activation of phospholipase A2 by freshly added lysophospholipids.

Abstract

Reaction progress curves for the hydrolysis of dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine by pig pancreatic phospholipase A2 exhibits a latency phase. Addition of 1-palmitoyllysophosphatidylcholine to the preformed vesicles reduces the latency phase and enhances the binding of phospholipase A2 to the vesicles. In contrast, the binary codispersions prepared from… (More)
