We study the effect of action noise on state-to-state control protocols. Action noise creates dephasing in the instantaneous eigenbasis of the Hamiltonian and hampers the fidelity of the final state with respect to the target state. We find that for shorter protocols the noise more strongly influences the dynamics and degrades fidelity. We suggest improving the fidelity by inducing stronger dephasing rates along the process. The effects of action noise on the dynamics and its manipulation is…

Noise resistant quantum control using dynamical invariants

A systematic approach to design robust control protocols against the influence of different types of noise is introduced. We present control schemes which protect the decay of the populations

The Renewed Role of Sweep Functions in Noisy Shortcuts to Adiabaticity

It is observed that, according to the decay and dephasing channels investigated here, the performance of the system becomes highly dependent on the sweep function.

Verification of the quantum nonequilibrium work relation in the presence of decoherence

Although nonequilibrium work and fluctuation relations have been studied in detail within classical statistical physics, extending these results to open quantum systems has proven to be conceptually

Single-atom heat engine as a sensitive thermal probe

We propose employing a quantum heat engine as a sensitive probe for thermal baths. In particular, we study a single-atom Otto engine operating in an open thermodynamic cycle. Owing to its cyclic

Quantum signatures in the quantum Carnot cycle

TheCarnot cycle combines reversible isothermal and adiabatic strokes to obtain optimal efficiency, at the expense of a vanishing power output. QuantumCarnot-analog cycles are constructed and solved,

Quantum signatures in the quantum Carnot cycle

The Carnot cycle combines reversible isothermal and adiabatic strokes to obtain optimal efficiency, at the expense of a vanishing power output. Quantum Carnot-analog cycles are constructed and

Quantum Noise Sensing by Generating Fake Noise

The SuperQGAN protocol, proposed, is a very promising framework to characterize noise in a realistic quantum device, even in the case of spatially and temporally correlated noise (memory channels) affecting quantum circuits.

Investigation of robust population transfer using quadratically chirped laser interacting with a two-level system

We have proposed and demonstrated a fast and robust method of population transfer between two quantum states using a quadratically chirped laser source. Numerically solving the time-dependent

Transient non-confining potentials for speeding up a single ion heat pump

We propose speeding up a single ion heat pump based on a tapered ion trap. If a trapped ion is excited in an oscillatory motion axially the radial degrees of freedom are cyclically expanded and

Quantum Measurement and Control

In the last two decades there has been an enormous progress in the experimental investigation of single quantum systems. This progress covers fields such as quantum optics, quantum computation,

I and i

There is, I think, something ethereal about i —the square root of minus one, which seems an odd beast at that time—an intruder hovering on the edge of reality.

The xishacorene natural products are structurally unique apolar diterpenoids that feature a bicyclo[3.3.1] framework. These secondary metabolites likely arise from the well-studied, structurally
