Using disk acrylamide gel electrophoresis, an abnormal pattern was found in all sera from patients with chronic lymphatic leukemia but in none of the sera from normal persons or patients with lymphosarcoma. The abnormality is the presence of an intense band (X) cathodal to the usual pretransferrin band (P) of normal sera. The P bands were either absent or very weak in all sera of the patients with chronic lymphatic leukemia.
