In this investigation, three different swell systems known in pipe organs, the swell box, the crescendo wheel, and the historic wind swell were measured and compared to each other. The dynamic range of the crescendo wheel was found to be most effective, and for frequencies near 2 kHz the increase in sound pressure level could be up to 50 dB between the softest and the loudest adjustment. The maximum dynamic range for the wind swell and the swell box were found to be 10-20 dB in the same… Expand

Numerical Study on Acoustic Oscillations of 2D and 3D Flue Organ Pipe Like Instruments with Compressible LES
Acoustic oscillations of flue instruments are investigated numerically using compressible Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Investigating 2D and 3D models of flue instruments, we reproduce acousticExpand
Study on leak-acoustics generation mechanism for natural gas pipelines
Abstract In order to figure out the principles of acoustic leak detection for natural gas pipelines, a study on the leak-acoustics generation mechanism is carried out. The aero-acoustics generationExpand
Computational fluid dynamic simulation of pressure perturbations generation for gas pipelines leakage
Abstract A computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation research on the pressure perturbations generation is accomplished and verified by experiments to study the fundamental of acoustic leakExpand
Numerical study on sound vibration of an air-reed instrument with compressible LES
Acoustic mechanics of air-reed instruments is investigated numerically with compressible Large-eddy simulation (LES). Taking a two dimensional air-reed instrument model, we have succeeded inExpand

TLDR
The effect of the resonators on frequency and spectrum was studied because the resonator is an integral part of the resulting tone; virtually every reed stop has some type of resonator. Expand
YIN, a fundamental frequency estimator for speech and music.
An algorithm is presented for the estimation of the fundamental frequency (F0) of speech or musical sounds. It is based on the well-known autocorrelation method with a number of modifications thatExpand
Electronically controlled swell shutter operator for pipe organs
An electronically controlled swell shutter operator for pipe organs includes an electric motor driving a speed reducer whose output is connected to move the shutters of a pipe organ swell chamber, inExpand
Attack transients of free reed pipes in comparison to striking reed pipes and diapason pipes
Summary Attack transients of three free reed organ stops were measured throughout the whole frequency range of the stop and compared to the measurements of a striking reed stop and a flue stop. TheExpand
Attenuation of Pipe‐Organ Tone by Swell Shutters
The attenuation‐frequency characteristic of typical pipe‐organ swell shutters was measured, using pipe tones as the source of signal. For shutters fully closed, relative to fully open, the averageExpand
The history of the English organ
TLDR
This book discusses the history of English organs, particularly the Georgian and High Victorian organs, as well as the modern organ, which has been in use since the 19th Century. Expand
