We consider integrable field theories with achiral boundary conditions and uncover the underlying achiral twisted Yangian algebra. This construction arises from old work on the bosonic principal chiral model on a half-line, but finds a modern realization as the hidden symmetry in the planar limit of the scattering of worldsheet excitations of the AdS/CFT light-cone superstring off a D5-brane.

Reflection algebra, Yangian symmetry and bound-states in AdS/CFT

A bstractWe present the ‘Heisenberg picture’ of the reflection algebra by explicitly constructing the boundary Yangian symmetry of an AdS/CFT superstring which ends on a boundary with non-trivial

Secret Symmetries in AdS/CFT Proceedings to the Nordita program 'Exact Results in Gauge-String Dualities'

We discuss special quantum group (secret) symmetries of the integrable system associated to the AdS/CFT correspondence. These symmetries have by now been observed in a variety of forms, including the

Integrable boundaries in AdS/CFT: revisiting the Z=0 giant graviton and D7-brane

A bstractWe consider the worldsheet boundary scattering and the corresponding boundary algebras for the Z = 0 giant graviton and the Z = 0 D7-brane in the AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider two

The secret symmetries of the AdS/CFT reflection matrices

We find new twisted Yangian symmetries of the AdS/CFT reflection matrices for the Y=0 maximal giant graviton and D5-brane. These new symmetries originate from the known secret symmetries of the

String integrability of defect CFT and dynamical reflection matrices

Abstract The D3-D5 probe-brane system is holographically dual to a defect CFT which is known to be integrable. The evidence comes mainly from the study of correlation functions at weak coupling. In

The particle-hole transformation, supersymmetry and achiral boundaries of the open Hubbard model

We show that the particle-hole transformation in the Hubbard model has a crucial role in relating Shastry’s R-matrix to the AdS/CFT S-matrix. In addition, we construct an achiral boundary for the

Integrable domain walls in ABJM theory

Abstract One-point functions of local operators are studied, at weak and strong coupling, for the ABJM theory in the presence of a 1/2 BPS domain wall. In the underlying quantum spin chain the

Secret symmetries in AdS/CFT

We discuss special quantum group (secret) symmetries of the integrable system associated with the AdS/CFT correspondence. These symmetries have by now been observed in a variety of forms, including

Drinfel'd basis of twisted Yangians

We present a quantization of a Lie bi-ideal structure for twisted half-loop algebras of finite dimensional simple complex Lie algebras. We obtain Drinfel'd basis formalism and algebra closure

Integrable open spin-chains in AdS3/CFT2

We study integrable open boundary conditions for d(2,1;\alpha)^2 and psu(1,1|2)^2 spin-chains. Magnon excitations of these open spin-chains are mapped to massive excitations of type IIB open

Yangian symmetry and bound states in AdS/CFT boundary scattering

We consider the problem of boundary scattering for Y = 0 maximal giant graviton branes. We show that the boundary S-matrix for the fundamental excitations has a Yangian symmetry. We then exploit this

Integrable achiral D5-brane reflections and asymptotic Bethe equations

We study the reflection of magnons from a D5-brane in the framework of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider two possible orientations of the D5-brane with respect to the reference vacuum state,

On the reflection of magnon bound states

We investigate the reflection of two-particle bound states of a free open string in the light-cone AdS5 ×S5 string sigma model, for large angular momentum J = J56 and ending on a D7 brane which wraps

Reflecting magnons from D7 and D5 branes

We obtain the reflection matrices for the scattering of elementary magnons from certain open boundaries, corresponding to open strings ending on D7 and D5 branes in AdS5 × S5. In each case we

Boundary finite size corrections for multiparticle states and planar AdS/CFT

We propose formulas for the Lüscher type finite size energy correction of multiparticle states on the interval and evaluate them for the simplest case in the AdS/CFT setting. By this we determine the

Review of AdS/CFT Integrability, Chapter IV.2: Deformations, Orbifolds and Open Boundaries

We review the role of integrability in the planar spectral problem of four-dimensional superconformal gauge theories besides $${\fancyscript{N}=4}$$ SYM. The cases considered include the

Yangian symmetry of boundary scattering in AdS/CFT and the explicit form of bound state reflection matrices

The reflection matrices of multi magnon bound states are obtained explicitely by exploiting the Yangian symmetry of boundary scattering on the Y = 0 maximal giant graviton brane.

Quantum spin chain with `soliton non-preserving' boundary conditions

We consider the case of an integrable quantum spin chain with `soliton non-preserving' boundary conditions. This is the first time that such boundary conditions have been considered in the spin chain

Reflecting magnons

We study the worldsheet reflection matrix of a string attached to a D-brane in AdS5× S. The D-brane corresponds to a maximal giant graviton and it wraps an S inside S. In the gauge theory, the open
